The Solway Mixed Pairs tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 9 pairs registered to play in the event.

The eventual winners following section play and a 1001 one leg play off were Sandi Ridd and Preston Ridd of the Richmond Club.

The runners up were Rosalie Ritchie and Mike Ritchie of the Papanui Club.

The tournament was played in great spirits with some very close matches during the section play.

Many thanks must go the Woolston Club for hosting the competition and to Bill Ritchie for a stirling effort in controlling the tournament.



22nd March 2017

The annual CCCCDA Richmond Cup Cricket tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 11 teams registered to play in the event.

The eventual winners following section play and a one life knockout were Bernie Smith, Haupai Puha, David Grafton and Colin Barrett of the New Brighton Club.

The runners up were John Hurring, Carl Berg, Paul Garbutt and Mike Scott of the Kaiapoi Club.

A close battle in the final with both sets of players scoring and taking wickets very efficiently, the turning point being Haupai Puha dismissing the Kaiapoi team on the second innings with 4 wickets in one set.

To win the match, however, still required some great scoring from the New Brighton quartet with the lads from Kaiapoi throwing everything in to get the New Brighton team dismissed. The final runs being scored by David Grafton with a well taken 85 runs with the Kaiapoi team needing just two wickets to take the Cup over the Waimakariri Bridge but it wasnt to be.

Many thanks must go the Woolston Club for hosting the competition and to Janice Pitama for a stirling effort in controlling the tournament.



15th March 2017

The annual CCCCDA Cricket Pairs tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 23 pairs registered to play in the event which is an improvement on recent years.

The eventual winners following section play and a one life knockout were Bernie Smith and Haupai Puha of the New Brighton Club.

The runners up were Ben Robb and John Hurring of the Kaiapoi Club.

The final was a keenly fought contest between two evenly matched opponents. The turning point, however, was a fantastic 6 wickets (3 bulls) by Bernie Smith to end the Kaipoi pair's second innings.

To win the match, however, still required some great scoring from the New Brighton pair with the lads from Kaiapoi throwing everything in to get Bernie and Haupai dismissed.

The CCCCDA have taken entries for the Winter round competition. To date a total of 44 teams have entered the competition.

This is an increase of 3 teams from last Winter so far with the possibility of a further two teams entering at the last minute.

Congratulations and welcome to the Templeton RSA who have decided to enter two teams in this winters competition.

The Clubs New Zealand South Island Championship was held at the Oamaru club between the 1st March and 4th March 2017.

Members of the CCCCDA were responsible for picking up 4 of the 5 major titles with the Youth title heading its way to Hornby with Jordan Christie also.

Well done to all the participants and many thanks to the organisers, sponsors and to the Oamaru Club for the excellent hospitality

AEM Invitational Competition held at the Cashmere Club

The Mens winner was Bernie Smith of the New Brighton Club.
The Mens runner up was Warren French of the Hornby Club.
The Mens joint third place were Landon Gardiner of the Kaiapoi Club and David Grafton of the New Brighton Club

The Ladies winner was Sarah Pitama of the Hornby Club.
The Ladies runner up was Rosalie Ritchie of the Papanui Club.
The Ladies third place was Maata Atkins of the Hornby Club

CCCCDA Mixed Pairs Competition held at the Hornby Club

The winners were Rosalie Ritchie and Michael Ritchie of the Papanui Club.
The runners up were Kim Sumner and Leslie Earney of the Cashmere Club.
Overall 5 pairs registered for the event, a few more would have made for a more competitive tournament but the event was played in great spirits. The highest break of the day was 117 by Michael Ritchie for the men and 108 by Kathy Baker for the ladies. There were two 180's scored, Rosalie Ritchie and Mike Ritchie supplying those. The highest finishes for the day were Leslie Earney with a nice 132 for the men and Kathy Baker with 86 for the ladies.

CCCCDA Champion of Champions Competition

The winners were Leslie Earney, Calvin Jackson, Malcolm Lamplugh-Hayward and Keith McElhinney of the Cashmere Club. with 14 legs won.
The runners up were Bernie Smith, Colin Barrett, Frank Bush and David Grafton of the New Brighton Club.with 13 legs won.
Third place were Dave Harrington, Carl Berg, Jane Harrington and Mike Scott of the Kaiapoi Club.with 12 legs won.

Seven teams entered overall with the lower grades being mixed in with the first grade teams and made very creditable performances.
In the Lower Grades Champion of Champions, the three lower grade teams, Hornby G, Papanui and Woolston, all tied with winning 5 legs each.
Well done to all the entrants and especially to the overall winners, Cashmere.
The highest break for the evening was shared between Jane Harrington and Carl Berg with 120. Two players scored maximum 180's; Carl Berg and Bernie Smith and the highest checkout of the evening was 130 from Dave Harrington.

The winners were Keith Sheppard and Ken Shore of the Kaiapoi Club.
The runners up were Gerry Hopkins and Allan Eaglestone of the New Brighton Club.

Only five pairs entered the competition, congratulations to the winners, Keith and Ken.
