1st November 2017

The CCCCDA would like to congratulate Bernie Smith of the New Brighton for qualifying for the PDC William Hill World Championships to be held at the Alexander Palace in London, England from the 15th December 2017.

Bernie qualified for the prestigious event by winning the DPA Oceanic Masters in Dubbo Australia on Sunday 29th October 2017.

Well done Bernie and all the best for the sports biggest tournament.


8th October 2017

The CCCCDA Mixed Pairs tournament at the Hornby Club. A total of 12 pairs registered to play in the event.

The winners of the event were Kathy Martin and Jordan Whyte of the Woolston Club club. The runners up were Kim Sumner and Leslie Earney of the Cashmere Club. Third equal were Sandi Ridd and Preston Ridd of the Richmond Club and also Annie Webster and Jamie Thomas of the Templeton RSA club.

1st October 2017

The CCCCDA Over 60's Pairs tournament at the New Brighton Club. A total of 4 pairs registered to play in the event.

The winners of the event were Dave McBride and Ray Watts of the Richmond Club club. The runners up were Ken Lewis and Dave Mike Keenahan of the Richmond Club.

17th September 2017

The CCCCDA Graded Singles tournament for 2nd Reserve Grade and 3rd Grade was held at the New Brighton Club. A total of 16 players registered across the two grades to play in the event.

The winner of the 2nd Reserve Grade event was John Connolly of the New Brighton Club club. The runner up was Todd Lintott of the New Brighton Club and the third equal placed was Gareth Tolley and Aaron Lewis both of the Papanui club.

The eventual winner of the 3rd Grade event was Scott Cairns of the Woolston club. The runner up was Steve Williams of the Richmond Club.

3rd September 2017

The CCCCDA tournament for the re-arranged Mens and Ladies Pairs was held at the Hornby Club. A total of 10 mens pairs and 5 ladies pairs registered across three sections to play in the event.

The eventual winners of the Ladies Pairs event were Maata Atkins and Andrea Coburn of the Hornby club. The runners up were Moana Pierson and Mamaeroa Ngata-Stevens of the Kaiapoi Club and the third placed were Kathy Baker and Leanne Bellam of the Kaiapoi club.

The winners of the Mens Pairs event were Colin Barrett and Alan Winn of the New Brighton club. The runners up were Tamati Taua and Daniel Smith of the Cashmere Club and the third placed were Graeme Woodley and Jamie Thomas of the Templeton club.

27th August 2017

The CCCCDA tournament for Married Couples and De Facto Couples was held at the Kaiapoi Club. A total of 9 pairs registered across the two sections to play in the event.

The eventual winners of the Married event were Sandi and Preston Ridd of the Richmond club. The runners up were Chloe and Kevin Willcocks of the Kaiapoi Club and the third placed were Rosalie and Bill Ritchie of the Papanui club.

The winners of the De Facto event were Noeline Atkinson and Timata Walker Grace of the Hornby club. The runners up were Erin Birrel and Colin Barrett of the New Brighton Club and the third placed were Sharlene Hinz and Mike Scott of the Kaiapoi club.

Only one maximum scored during the day by Preston Ridd, Preston also responsible for the highest finish of 157, several people got the highest break of 120, Bill Ritchie and Graeme Woodley in the married event and Colin Barrett in the De Facto event.

CCCCDA v Central Regions Leopard Trophy Challenge Match - 26th August 2017 at the Hornby Club

The winners were CCCCDA With a final score of 22 to 10.
The Central Regions sent a very competitive team to challenge for the Leopard Trophy, however, the selected players from CCCCDA held firm ad were victorious.
There were several 180's scored on the day, Ben Robb with two followed by Warren French, Craig Ross, Carl Berg and Tukina Weko for the CCCCDA team with Darryl Ramage pegging a maximum for the Central Regions.

The eventual winner of the 1st Grade event was Les Wells of the Woolston club. The runner up was Graeme Woodley of the Templeton RSA Club and the third placed was Gary Jones of the Hornby club.

The winner of the 1st Reserve Grade event was Ricky Winter of the Hornby club. The runner up was Jordan Whyte of the Woolston Club and the third placed was Jason Higgins of the Kaiapoi club.

The eventual winner of the 2nd Grade event was Andy Renata of the Richmond club. The runner up was Brent Duff of the Hornby Club and the third placed was Mike Scott of the Kaiapoi club.

The CCCCDA Scott Special Pairs tournament was held at the Cashmere Club. A total of 10 pairs registered to play in the event.

The eventual winner of the event was Freddie Granada and Charles Go of the Papanui club. The runners up were Lesley Earney and Calvin Jackson of the Cashmere Club and the third placed pair were Mike Scott and Paul Garbutt of the Kaiapoi club.

2nd July 2017

The CCCCDA Mens and Ladies singles tournament was held at the Hornby Club. A total of 16 Men and 8 ladies registered to play in the event.

The eventual winner of the ladies event was Jane Harrington of the Kaiapoi club. The runner up was Rosalie Rithie of the Papanui Club and the third placed player was Sarah Pitama of the Hornby club.

The winner of the mens event was Quinton Gardiner of the Kaiapoi club. The runner up was Landon Gardiner fo the Kaiapoi club and third place went to Max Dallimore of the Papanui club.

The CCCCDA v Central regions representative match was held at the Hornby Club.

The CCCCDA was victorious overall with a winning margin of 136-44

Ladies result - CCCCDA 42 - Central Regions 18

The CCCCDA Alf Franklin Invitational tournament was held at the Cashmere Club.

The eventual winner of the event was John Hurring of the Kaiapoi club. The runner up was Max Dallimore of the Papanui Club and the third equal places were Haupai Puha of the New Brighton Club and Keith McIlhinney of the Templeton RSA.

Many thanks must go the Cashmere Club for hosting the competition and to Bill Ritchie for his efforts in controlling the tournament and inviting the participants as President of the Association.


7th April 2017

The Solway Mixed Pairs tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 9 pairs registered to play in the event.

The eventual winners following section play and a 1001 one leg play off were Sandi Ridd and Preston Ridd of the Richmond Club.

The runners up were Rosalie Ritchie and Mike Ritchie of the Papanui Club.

The tournament was played in great spirits with some very close matches during the section play.

22nd March 2017

The annual CCCCDA Richmond Cup Cricket tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 11 teams registered to play in the event.

The eventual winners following section play and a one life knockout were Bernie Smith, Haupai Puha, David Grafton and Colin Barrett of the New Brighton Club.

The runners up were John Hurring, Carl Berg, Paul Garbutt and Mike Scott of the Kaiapoi Club.

A close battle in the final with both sets of players scoring and taking wickets very efficiently, the turning point being Haupai Puha dismissing the Kaiapoi team on the second innings with 4 wickets in one set.

To win the match, however, still required some great scoring from the New Brighton quartet with the lads from Kaiapoi throwing everything in to get the New Brighton team dismissed. The final runs being scored by David Grafton with a well taken 85 runs with the Kaiapoi team needing just two wickets to take the Cup over the Waimakariri Bridge but it wasnt to be.

15th March 2017

The annual CCCCDA Cricket Pairs tournament was held at the Woolston Club. A total of 23 pairs registered to play in the event which is an improvement on recent years.

The eventual winners following section play and a one life knockout were Bernie Smith and Haupai Puha of the New Brighton Club.

The runners up were Ben Robb and John Hurring of the Kaiapoi Club.

The final was a keenly fought contest between two evenly matched opponents. The turning point, however, was a fantastic 6 wickets (3 bulls) by Bernie Smith to end the Kaipoi pair's second innings.

To win the match, however, still required some great scoring from the New Brighton pair with the lads from Kaiapoi throwing everything in to get Bernie and Haupai dismissed.
